Aligned to the Australian curriculum
The Learn to Read kit explores the fundamental connections between sounds and letters, so that children can gain confidence in their ability to read. Complex literacy skills are broken down into manageable tasks making the reading process much more enjoyable and easier to master.
Explicit phonics instruction (directly teaching the relationship between sounds and letters) encourages children to approach unfamiliar words confidently using a set of reading skill strategies. Systematic and explicit phonics instruction is more effective than non-systematic methods, significantly enhancing word recognition, spelling, reading and comprehension. It is especially beneficial for struggling readers and should be introduced early for optimal results.
Learning is a systematic journey where working memory thrives on breaking new information into manageable steps, reinforced through practice. This method helps students build upon their existing knowledge and skills.
